SUMMARY: The Coordinator of Educational Services is responsible for designing new students' IEP's and revising students' IEP's as well as coordinating the agency's instructional education program and activities at Custer City. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in education from a four-year college or university with a background in special education services. Vital Duties: Duties the employee performs that have a major impact on the delivery of services to our clientele Contacting home school district to discuss educational transition to Beacon Light; Working with students to increase motivation, provide consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level of functioning, and continuous feedback to student for all learning activities; Discussing pupils' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with student/parents/school district; Attending Interagency and IEP meetings; Assisting in researching how to improve the program and implementing those changes; Development of temporary IEPs; Completing Notice of Recommended Assignment (NORA) to indicate interim placement including needed signatures; Administering initial assessment program; Documenting of important information and data in a timely and professional manner as prescribed by the unit/program supervisor; Distributing initial assessment information to teachers; Developing IEP strengths, needs, current levels of performance and individualized objectives; Providing individual and family education as needed; Reviewing and revising IEP's as required; Developing tracking sheets as required; Maintaining contact with home school district; Preparing itemization of instructional materials necessary in the education program; Conducting classroom observations to keep abreast of curriculum implementation and to assist in the evaluation of instructional staff; Assuring compliance with curriculum regulations pertaining to State standards; Promoting the interpretation and use of results of identified assessment tools to improve instruction; Maintaining membership in appropriate professional organizations; Supervising classroom usage of Compass Computer System; Assisting staff with staff development needs; Supervision of the students, which includes: Ensuring students follow agency and program procedures; Knowing the students locations at all times; Following schedules; Using behavior management techniques in a professional manner when required; Interacting with the students in a respectful manner that is appropriate for the situation Direct supervision and management of the daily functions of the department, which includes: Interviewing and hiring new staff; Ensuring that new employee and annual evaluations are thorough and given in a timely manner; Effecting any necessary employee comments and dismissal action in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources; The training of new employees and on-going on-the-job-training with all staff. Reviewing all time sheets to ensure they are properly filled out and submit them in a timely manner for staff assigned to his/her department. Scheduling staff working hours and assigning staff to areas to provide adequate coverage within the Agency's requirements without previously authorized overtime. Periodic direct observation of staff performance and providing feedback to staff on their performance.
