REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Director and Special Education Director.
POSITION SUMMARY
Apply principles, methods and procedures for an analysis of speech and language comprehension and production to determine communicative competencies. Provide intervention strategies and services related to speech and language development and literacy development as well as disorders of language, voice, articulation and fluency and functional communication that adversely affect an individual's educational performance.

This position is a 187-day position. Work day is 7.5 hours Monday-Friday
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform comprehensive, educationally relevant, evaluations for students suspected of or at risk of a hearing disability and/or communication disorder, including articulation, fluency, voice, language communication, as defined under IDEA eligibility guidelines.
- Participate in the review of data with other members of an IEP team to inform appropriate instruction and interventions based on student identified needs. This may include providing consult and support for students who qualify for a 504 and/or an IEP, as defined under IDEA eligibility guidelines.
- Collaborate with professionals and parents to observe, plan, implement, monitor, and facilitate generalization of oral and written communication skills.
- Use research-based and technically sound practices to drive decision-making and interventions; and collaborate with school personnel and parents in order to develop and modify student intervention strategies.
- Use a variety of service delivery options, evidence-based practices and facilitate generalization of communication skills.
- Case manage students identified with speech language impairments only for the purposes of the IEP process.
- Collaborate with school, parents, teachers, special support personnel, and relevant community agencies and professionals to ensure delivery of appropriate services to promote academic success.
- Manage time, organize material, and communicate with school teams, building and central administrators to effectively manage individual student programs; engage in problem solving process with school-based teams.
- Advocate for the individual's communication needs across a variety of settings.
- Develop and/or participate in professional enrichment activities to maintain a high standard of service delivery.
- Participate in or utilize specialized services to provide better programming for individuals with complex needs.
- Share knowledge with individuals and groups concerning communication, language and literacy development.
- Complies with Student Support Services and district policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting).
- Provide direct and indirect interventions/therapy to students according to their special education Individualized Education Program (IEPs).

EXPERIENCE
- Prefer applicants with experience working in a school setting, but not required.
- Ability to speak both English and Spanish preferred.
- Preference given to candidates with ELL Training and/or an ESL or (LDE) Linguistically Diverse Education Endorsement.
- Prefer experience working in an integrated preschool classroom providing transdisciplinary services
EDUCATION
Masters degree in Communication Disorders or Speech Language Pathology required and ASHA Certification.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION
Must hold a Special Services license issued by CDE.

CLEARANCES:
Must clear background check through Colorado Department of Human Services in addition to an online Records check with National Sex Offender Registry, State of Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Registry and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Must also submit receipt of a Physical completed within one year of date of hire.
SALARY:
Placement on Certified Teacher Salary Schedule based upon previous teaching experience in related field. Highest initial step placement on the salary schedule is step 9. Current Board approved certified salary schedule is available for review on our district website at
The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.
BENEFITS:
Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week in the 2023/2024 school year are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 11% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA. The District contributes 21% in addition to employee contribution.
