The University of Louisville Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) is seeking to hire an Admissions Counselor III. The position implements the admissions and recruiting procedures and policies of the MSSW programs, recruiting diverse graduate students from both inside and outside of the university. The Admissions Counselor III will assist applicants with completing their applications and will review completed MSSW applications.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn collaboration with the MSSW Associate Director of Admissions, develop and implement MSSW recruitment strategies, including minority recruiting strategies, for use within and outside of the university.
Advise students on Kent Schools MSSW admissions procedures and policies by administering face-to-face informational interviews and communicating via phone and email to prospective applicants. Process and prepare applications for review with students as needed.
Evaluate MSSW applications, make final admission decisions in coordination with and making recommendations to the MSSW Associate Director of Admissions and MSSW Program Director when appropriate. This includes a critical analysis of all submitted admission materials, the judgment to request additional materials when beneficial in deciding and ensuring that all applicants are given equitable consideration, submitting variance requests to MSSW Program Director as needed.
Assist in the development of MSSW marketing materials/strategies and periodically review these materials including all online and hardcopy application materials, bulletin/catalog and scholarship materials related to the Kent School. Work collaboratively with marketing professionals and relevant university offices.
Create and maintain recruitment databases, complete periodic queries on the admissions and recruitment database. Prepare reports on prospective students and application data. Send invitations to prospective students to info sessions.
Assist with Orientation for the MSSW programs and any accompanying student services receptions. Create and update new student welcome materials.
Lead virtual and in-person information sessions for prospective students. Attend graduate program/career fairs to reach prospective students.
Manage and coordinate databases and other communication with the Graduate School admission process including completing transfer credit evaluations and other variances necessary for student admission.
Manage communication across the entire MSSW team related to all functions of the office and manage communication of admission of new students with the Advising team Coordinators and Associate Director of Academic Affairs as needed.
Require significant day travel to in-state recruiting events. Occasional overnight travel. Work required 2-3 evenings per month and 3-4 weekends per year.
Preferred Qualifications
Master s degree in Social Work
3+ years post-MSW/MSSW experience working in a social work field
Proven clear and efficient written and interpersonal communication skills, both electronically and in person
Strong public speaking skills
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Professional experience with public speaking/leading presentations virtually and in person
Higher education/student services experience
Target Compensation Maximum:
$68,900.00Target Compensation Minimum:
$45,900.00Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
