MoranAssistant Superintendent of Human ResourcesSubject:Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Teaching and LearningThe Brockton Public Schools, a large and diverse urban district, seeks a visionary and equity-driven educational leader to serve as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Teaching and Learning. This leader will be instrumental in advancing academic excellence, equitable outcomes, and student success across grades 6-12.Qualifications:Masters degree from an accredited institution with a strong background in administration.Current Massachusetts Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent license with SEI endorsement.Minimum of five (5) years of successful school or district-level administrative experience.Demonstrated commitment to instructional equity, culturally responsive leadership, and student-centered practices.Effective interpersonal and leadership skills; experience facilitating group decision-making among diverse stakeholder groups.Broad working knowledge of adolescent development, learning theory, curriculum and assessment design, data analysis, strategic planning, and personnel management.Ability to manage and maintain sensitive and confidential employee and student information with discretion.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership & CollaborationServe as a key member of the Superintendents Leadership Team, contributing to district-wide instructional priorities and strategic planning.Collaborate with central office departments and school leaders to implement, monitor, and refine teaching and learning initiatives across grades 612.Maintain regular communication and ensure adherence to educational standards and guidelines as outlined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).Curriculum, Instruction, and AssessmentLead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and instructional practices.Drive the review and improvement of grading practices, curriculum resources, and staff development plans.Oversee the implementation and analysis of state and local assessments to support data-driven decision-making.Ensure curriculum and instructional practices align with state frameworks and foster high achievement for all students.School & Leader SupportSupervise and evaluate Secondary Principals, Directors, and Coordinators.Provide coaching and leadership development to support high-impact instructional practices across schools.Support School Improvement Planning and data-driven instructional leadership among Principals and Associate Principals.Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for academic and social-emotional learning (SEL) needs.Student & Family SupportCollaborate with families on student placement decisions, programmatic transitions, academic concerns, and behavioral supports.Communicate regularly and transparently about district priorities, instructional practices, and curriculum implementation.Participate in community-based initiatives, including Juvenile Justice meetings, to support court-involved and at-risk students.Partner with the Bilingual Education and Unified Student Services offices to ensure inclusive practices for all learners.Operational OversightDevelop and manage departmental budgets and federal/state grants to maximize resources supporting student achievement.Partner with the Department of Instructional Technology to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning.Maintain collaborative relationships with labor unions supporting our educators and staff.Visibility & CommunicationMaintain a consistent and supportive presence across schools to monitor instructional quality and provide responsive leadership.Communicate proactively and clearly with internal and external stakeholders regarding instructional priorities, initiatives, and changes.Additional Duties:Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Deputy Superintendent
