The Berlin Area School District is searching for a dedicated and passionate full time Speech & Language Pathologist. Under the direction of the building administration and the Director of Pupil Services and Special Education, the speech & language pathologist provides prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. These services are designed to help students meet their educational goals. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience serving students within an inclusive delivery model and/or with older students with speech/language impairments.
Clay Lamberton Elementary (4K-5), Berlin Middle School (6-8), and Berlin High School (9-12) sit on the same campus and serve as a hub of activity for the greater Berlin community. The Berlin Area School District is composed of 14 municipalities, with the City of Berlin at the center. Berlin is a rural community with a population of 5,500 located approximately 20 minutes west of Oshkosh and 10 minutes north of Green Lake. The Fox River runs through the center of the historic Victorian downtown. Agriculture, health services, light industry and retail shops comprise Berlin's economy.
The ideal candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate knowledge and effectiveness in the following areas:
-Adhering to legal confidentiality and compliance requirements;
-Case managing evaluations and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with speech/language impairments;
-Leading collaborative discussions around disability eligibility criteria and student need;
-Developing high quality materials, evidence-based, and data driven instructional strategies for speech therapy;
-Establishing positive relationships with students;
-Creating data-driven goals that support a student's access, involvement, and progress within the general education curriculum or age-appropriate activities;
-Completing treatment logs, Medicaid billing, and other documentation related to student progress;
-Encouraging staff and family involvement to ensure generalization of speech/language skills across settings.
Salary, benefits, and length of contract: This position offers a 190-day contract with a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, along with an excellent benefits package.
