Exceptional Children Physical Therapist (Part-time)

Salary: Physical Therapist Salary Schedule

FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a four-year accredited program of physical therapy and two years of experience or a master's degree in physical therapy
  • Licensed as a physical therapist in North Carolina
  • Must become initially certified in nonviolent crisis intervention (de-escalation and physical restraint) and maintain that certification through the proper renewal process (adhering to all timelines)

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and coordination of physical therapy services to provide screening, evaluation, and treatment of students with disabilities who qualify for an IEP (Individualized Education Program/Plan)
  • Evaluates students using appropriate tests and observations
  • Develops individual treatment goals and activities
  • Administers treatment and evaluates its effect
  • Participates in the multi-disciplinary meeting to develop Individual Education Programs/Plans
  • Provides training and monitors school personnel in the management of the therapy program as needed
  • Maintains records in accordance with State guidelines and district policy
  • Inventories equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20

pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move

objects.

Must be able to:

  • walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, kneel, crouch, key requiring repetitive motions
  • use visual acuity in preparing and analyzing written or computer data
  • visually inspect small defects and/or small parts
  • operate a variety of machines, motor vehicles, hand, and job specific equipment and tools

  • communicate by spoken word to express or exchange ideas and convey detailed or important instructions to others accurately or quickly
  • safely work in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized

  • perform under stress, deal with persons acting under stress and adapt when confronted with

  • work with both children and adults with disabilities
  • lift students of various weights independently and with shared responsibility
