P OSITION TITLE: Lead Speech Language Pathologist FLSA: Exempt SALARY: SLP Salary Schedule WORK DAYS: 210 LOCATION: Muscogee County Public Education Center REPORTS TO: Executive Director Program for Exceptional StudentsPRIMARY FUNCTION: Works with the Program for Exceptional Students to include Speech Language Pathologists and assigned region teams to administer and coordinate the Speech Language Pathology Services for the school district.
REQUIREMENTS: 1. Educational Level: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders 2. Certification/License: Valid Georgia certification in Speech Language Pathology; Valid driver's license 3. Experience: Three years experience as a Speech Language Pathologist 4. Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities 5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication, planning, organizationESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Schedules and leads region team meetings for the purpose of keeping staff informed concerning policy and procedure changes, instructional programs, and resolution of existing problems.
- Collaborates with other team leaders to schedule monthly district SLP meetings and trainings for the purpose of enhancing productivity of staff and ensuring necessary outcomes are achieved.
- Collects and reviews monthly timeline data for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
- Monitors timeline and accuracy requirements, staffing, collects documentation, reports data for assigned area and coordinates and supervises corrective actions for the purpose of ensuring consistent and effective implementation of system-wide instructional and student service programs.
- Effectively uses, and trains building staff to use the division’s electronic IEP and Student Information system for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Supervises use of electronic systems through random monthly checks for legal compliance.
- Coordinates staff peer review completion and collects documentation for the purpose of ensuring quality staff.
- Completes 1 random file review per SLP per semester for the purpose of legal compliance.
- Plans, coordinates, and monitors professional development for district and individual region for the purpose of ensuring quality staff are maintained.
- Collaborates with district level administrators and other departments for the purpose of communicating effectively across the district.
- Monitors and evaluates individual work performance and the evaluation system for the purpose of ensuring quality staff.
- Coordinates teams and peer review processes and reports outcomes to Program Manager for the purpose of enhancing productivity of staff and ensuring necessary outcomes are achieved.
- Adheres to county, state and federal procedures for the purpose of legal compliance.
- Communicates and collaborates with district to make equitable job assignments that consider personnel skills, resources, and school needs for the purpose of maximizing staff.
- Prepares training, mentoring and coaching of Speech Language Pathologists, 504, SST chairs, district/school staff and LEA facilitators on areas of identified Speech Language need for the purpose of legal compliance.
- Collaborates with the Program Manager, Director and Regional Chief for Speech Language Pathologist evaluations for the purpose of ensuring quality staff are maintained.
- Ensures the proper, timely, consideration of eligibility for the purpose of legal compliance.
- Maintains a variety of accountability and tracking systems and reports data to Program Manager for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Disseminates best practice information to promote data-based problem solving, the RTI process and sound educational practice at the individual, classroom, school and district levels for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.
