Welcome to the Hughson Unified School District! We are a Preschool - 12th grade district located in Stanislaus County. We serve approximately 2,100 students at our five sites. HUSD offers a wide variety of academic programs including advanced placement courses, agriculture, career technical education, as well as numerous opportunities in athletics, fine arts, and clubs. We are a top performing district in Stanislaus County, which is a direct reflection of our staff's commitment to our students and their academic achievement. As a Google Reference District, we continue to focus on technology training and instructional use in the classroom. Our students have daily access to Chromebooks and all 6th - 12th grade students are provided a Chromebook for home and school use. Our students are engaged daily in 21st Century Learning and are prepared to graduate with skills to succeed in college and their career choice.

DESCRIPTION: To help reduce or eliminate speech and hearing impediments that interfere with the individual students ability to derive full benefit from the Districts educational program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement. Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and hearing handicapped children. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments. Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments. Provides screening to identify speech handicapped children at regular intervals and at specified levels. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate. Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student needs and correct existing speech or language handicaps Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the students daily activities. Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate. Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvements. Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services. Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services. Compiles case history data on those cases where additional family history, health history, early developmental history, and environmental history are deemed appropriate. Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies. QUALIFICATIONS: A valid California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language, Speech, and Hearing. Previous successful experience as a Speech/Language Pathologist in a public school setting. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and Benefits according to Board Approved Certificated Teacher Salary Schedule. 181 Work Days per school year. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. REPORTS TO: Special Education Program Specialist
