This position is part-time and operates case by case on a per diem basis and includes evenings and possibly weekends. The Pediatric Speech Pathologist will assess and treat children from birth to three years with developmental delays as part of a trans-disciplinary team, in addition to providing parent education, support, and assume case management responsibilities as directed by the EI Coordinator/designee.Responsibilities:- Evaluates pediatric patients and designs appropriate therapy plans to ensure children benefit from individualized treatment that builds on their success. - Explains evaluation results and the proposed therapy plan to parents and other caregivers; works with families to allay concerns and reinforce the benefits of the therapy plan. - Conducts therapy sessions in line with the approved therapy plan; works with children, parents, and other caregivers to evaluate progress and update their plan. - Maintains documentation for each therapy session in database. - Writes evaluation assessment reports. - Observes the agreed upon schedules of their caseload.- Adhere to New Jersey Early Intervention Management System (EIMS) and Agency policies and procedures.- Assume service provider duties as directed by NJ EIMS and assigned by the EI Coordinator or designee.- Ensure families know their rights as per Procedural Safeguards Office guidelines.- Participates in the screening and assessment of children as assigned by the EI Coordinator or designee.- Participates in the development and implementation of an Individual Family Service Plan for assigned children with support from team members.- Provides consultation to staff and families regarding areas of expertise.- Makes use of available community resources to enrich the content of the program.- Maintains open and cooperative relationships with all staff and parents as well as community centers, schools, agencies, or programs directly involving the development and progress of a child.- Assists family in the transition process as outlined in the Individual Family Service Plan.- Communicates effectively with team members regarding the level of professional needed to help the family meet the Individual Family Service Plan goals and outcomes.- Confers with parents as required to perform duties as service provider, assisting with screening, assessment, and the development of the Individual Family Service Plan.- Works with parents to help them develop skills which will enable them to support the growth and development of their child.- Respects the confidential nature of information about parents, other staff, and the agency.- Immediately reports any and all disruptions in service including session cancelation andvacations to the EI Coordinator in writing.- Completes all required reports, correspondences, forms, etc. by the assigned deadline.- Promptly reports any incident involving an accident, dangerous situation or behavior, or health condition to the EI Coordinator or designee and uses appropriate forms to document such conditions.- Takes responsibility for removing any hazardous materials or equipment and/or reporting such to the EI Coordinator or designee so that appropriate action can be taken.- Reports problems or grievances to the EI Coordinator or designee, or follows procedures as outlined in the Personnel Policy.- Reports to the EI Coordinator or designee any concerns about the health and safety of children in homes you work as a mandated reporter.- Provides individual therapy to children assigned by the Department of Day Support Services as outlined in the Individual Family Service Plan.- Cooperates with the licensee and any department staff in any inspection or investigation.- Assesses a child's specific therapy needs, with team input, and determines when discipline-specific therapy is necessary in a manner consistent with Early Intervention philosophy and the Individual Family Service Plan outcomes.- Is well versed and enrolled in the NJ EIMS to access caseload information and submit service claims. - Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Day Support Services, the Chief Executive Officer or his/her designee. Qualifications:Must be willing to work flexible hours Must submit credentials and liability insurances Is well versed and enrolled in the NJ EIMSMinimum of 1 year experience with the pediatric population preferredLicensed State of New Jersey Speech Language Pathologist Valid Driver's licenseTwenty-one years of age or older Must have reliable transportation Must complete criminal background checkSkills:Experience with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of language, communication, and social-emotional disorders strongly preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills.
