  • &nbsp&nbsp South St. Paul Schools is seeking to fill a part-time (.6 FTE) position for a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant. The salary range for this position is $27 to $30/hour depending on experience.
    Benefits are prorated for 0.5 - 0.8 FTE amounts.
    Job Summary
    South St. Paul Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our team. The SLPA will support the Lead SLP in providing speech and language therapy services to students with communication disorders. This role involves direct student interaction, the implementation of therapeutic activities, and collaboration with educational staff to enhance students' communication skills and academic performance.

    Job Functions
    • Direct Student Services :
      • Assist in delivering speech and language therapy services under the supervision of a certified SLP.
      • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions as per individualized education programs (IEPs).
      • Implement therapeutic activities designed to improve communication skills, including articulation, language, fluency, and social language.
    • Administrative Support :
      • Prepare materials and equipment for speech therapy sessions.
      • Document student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with school policies and federal/state regulations.
      • Assist in scheduling therapy sessions and coordinating with classroom teachers.
    • Collaboration and Communication :
      • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational staff to support students communication needs in the classroom.
      • Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on student progress and goals.
      • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a supportive learning environment.
    • Professional Development :
      • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
      • Stay current with best practices and developments in the field of speech-language pathology.
    • Other duties as assigned
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

    Education and Certification:
    • Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program) required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Valid SLPA license or certification as required by the state of Minnesota.
    Experience:
    • Previous experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting is preferred.
    • Experience supporting individuals with speech and language disorders is a plus.
    Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under the supervision of a certified SLP.
    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping children develop their communication skills.
    • Proficiency in using computer software for record-keeping and documentation.
