The speech-language pathologist provides and oversees programs
of instruction for children ages 5 through 21 years, who are eligible
for communication services. The Speech-Language Pathology program
operates under the Special Education Department of the ESD. Currently,
the program consists of one speech-language pathologist (SLP) and one
speech-language pathology assistant (SLPA). The program serves four
school districts as well as birth to five-year-old evaluations within
Wallowa County and is responsible for school-age language and hearing
screenings. In general, the program serves between 60-70 children each
year. Communication disorders that impact articulation, receptive and
expressive language, fluency, and pragmatic language are diagnosed and
treated by Position reports to ESD Superintendent. RESPONSIBILITES: \*
Conduct individual testing and evaluations in speech and language and
hearing screenings. \*Provide comprehensive written report of
observations, assessment results, and recommendations within the
standard established. \*Attend meetings for IEPs, new referrals, and
reevaluations. \*Write IEPs and keep IEP records up-to-date. \*Provide
and oversee student speech services in the constituent school districts.
\*Confer with appropriate school personnel regarding individual student
program needs. \*Attend special education workshops and in-service
training programs provided by the ESD. \*Provide professional
development activities and supervise SLPA. \*Maintain confidentiality at
all times. \*Ability to work in a variety of settings including
classroom, school buildings, and office environments. \*Flexibility in
schedule is required to maintain quality of the program. QUALIFICATIONS:
\*Master\'s degree or higher \*Demonstrated successful experience in
special education, including work with high-needs populations.
\*Effective oral and written communication skills. \*Able to lift 50
pounds. \*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Wallowa
ESD board of Directors/ Superintendent may find appropriate and
