School Occupational Therapist Position Available Within Detroit Public Schools

Role Summary:
The OT will assess student needs, implement individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote skill development that aligns with IEP goals. Your work will directly impact students ability to participate confidently in their academic routines.

Primary Duties:

  • Conduct assessments and contribute to eligibility/IEP decision-making

  • Provide direct therapy and consultative services across various school environments

  • Address fine motor, self-care, sensory processing, and visual-perceptual skills

  • Adapt materials and learning environments to meet student needs

  • Work alongside teachers, families, and support staff to generalize strategies

  • Maintain detailed documentation and service logs

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy

  • Valid Michigan OT license

  • School credential or teaching certificate enabling practice in public school settings

  • Experience with IEP implementation and school-based OT preferred

  • Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills

Job Details:

  • Type: Full-time, onsite

  • Schedule: MondayFriday during school hours

  • Caseload: K12 students (varies by site)
