The Uxbridge Public Schools seeks a collaborative and innovative speech-language pathologist to join the special education team at the Whitin Intermediate School (grades 4-7). This individual will work with educators and support staff, and building and district administration, to identify, assess, and treat students with communication, speech, and language challenges and disorders, ensuring they can participate fully in the educational environment. The role involves collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and provide therapy to address specific needs. SLPs also play a role in intervention and prevention efforts, working to identify and address potential communication difficulties early on, as well as support students requiring support through assistive technologies, AAC device use, and/or use of equipment to support hearing and receptive communication. Key Responsibilities:Assessment and Diagnosis: Conducting screenings, evaluations, and assessments to identify students with speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Participation as a member of evaluation teams through the special education department at the school/district level.Treatment Planning: Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, including measurable goals and objectives, to address students' specific needs. Therapy Delivery: Providing direct and indirect therapy services to students, either individually or in small groups, using evidence-based practices. Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication development and ensure carryover of skills into the classroom and daily life. Includes consultation with families, collaboration with outside support professionals and private providers, as neededIEP Development and Implementation: Participating in IEP meetings, providing input on communication goals, and monitoring student progress towards those goals. Consultation and Education: Providing guidance and support to teachers, parents, and other staff regarding speech and language development and strategies for supporting students with communication challenges. Advocacy: Advocating for students' communication needs and ensuring they have access to appropriate support and services. Professional Development: Staying up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the field of speech-language pathology, and working with other district SLPs to develop and implement best practices across the schools.Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, treatment plans, and progress, and assisting in the maintenance of student special education records as it relates to the role/position.Minimum Requirements:Masters Degree preferredEvidence of CCC-SLP completion required.Candidates must hold the appropriate state licensure and any required national licensure as required by the DESE and the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
