Overview

Genesee Lake School is seeking a Full Time- Occupational Therapist to join their team in Oconomowoc!

GLS is both a therapeutic day school & residential treatment center for children and young adults with Autism and neurological, emotional and/or developmental disabilities. We have received the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) award for three consecutive years. Our 160-acre campus in the countryside near Oconomowoc provides an ideal setting for our students to learn, develop and achieve their potential. The school calendar follows the typical 180 educational days with the opportunity to attend Extended School Year for students in need of this programming.

Essential Functions:
Provide direct occupational therapy services aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), focusing on the development, improvement, and maintenance of functional participation in self-care, academics, leisure, and play.
Collaborate with the educational team to plan, organize, and conduct therapeutic activities and interventions.
Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations as part of the special education re-evaluation and service determination process.
Work directly with students to promote motor planning, sensory regulation, fine motor visual motor integration, and adaptive functioning for classroom and school-wide participation.
Participate as a contributing member of IEP teams, including attending meetings, providing data, and supporting goal development and service compliance.
Document services and student progress in a timely manner, including daily notes, progress reports, and other required documentation.
Deliver services in-person via direct, indirect (push-in) and consultation.
Tracking treatment minutes and submit monthly billing reports
Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and school regulations, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and professional composure in dynamic educational settings.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current Wisconsin licensure or eligibility as a Licensed Occupational Therapist.
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Occupational Therapist License
National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Certification (NBCOT)
Experience working with students in special education, including those with autism, emotional and behavioral disorders, and other developmental disabilities, strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to maintain emotional regulation (for co-regulation with students) and composure in high-stress or crisis situations.
Ability to meet orientation and training requirements, including crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
Prior experience providing occupational therapy services in pediatric or school-based settings.
Strong understanding of sensory integration principles and strategies.
Proficient in assessing and supporting fine motor and gross motor development.
Knowledgeable in visual-perceptual and visual-motor skill development.
Experience supporting the development of age-appropriate activities of daily living (ADLs), including self-care, dressing, hygiene, and feeding.
Familiarity with IEP development, documentation systems, and progress monitoring tools.
Experience addressing oral motor and feeding challenges in children.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and educational staff.

WAGES & BENEFITS:

  • Hours: 8-4pm or 7:30-3:30pm during the regular school year + availability to work ESY
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday, following a traditional school calendar
