TEMPORARY Speech Language Pathologist

Position Description:

The individual selected for this assignment will join a dynamic team of speech-language pathologists to provide support to elementary and secondary schools through consultation, evaluation, and direct service. Essential job functions include:

  1. Observe, screen and evaluate students to determine the current level of performance to determine eligibility for speech language services.
  2. Prepare evaluation reports and participate in drafting individual education program (IEP) goals and objectives.
  3. Develop speech and language educational plans including determining goals, objectives, methods, materials, frequency, and duration based on individual assessment results.
  4. Provide direct instruction to students including analyzing, reviewing, and revising student progress; communicating with teachers and parents, and preparing the classroom for instruction.
  5. Provide ideas and consult with teachers and parents regarding speech and language development and disorders including determining the needs of the child.
  6. Ensure that all district, state, and federal guidelines regarding pre-referrals, referrals, testing, recordkeeping, and service delivery for students with disabilities are strictly followed.
  7. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Special Requirements: (Certification, training, specialty skills or previous experience)

  1. Valid Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology license or ability to obtain (or accepted TSPC licensure).
  2. Prefer public school experience as a speech-language pathologist.
  3. Prefer Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders with Certificate of Clinical Competence. Stipend available for Certificate of Clinical Competence. *CFY supervision available.
  4. Able to diagnose language, speech, and/or hearing disorders.
  5. Able to recommend to parents the referring of children needing to see a specialist/agencies for diagnosis and treatment of speech/language, and/or hearing problems beyond the scope of the school program.
  6. Individual that is bilingual and has an understanding of second language acquisition is preferred.
  7. Must be punctual and dependable.

This TEMPORARY 1.0 FTE position is 8/25/2025 - 12/19/2025 (82 paid contract days).

SALARY: Salary listed has been prorated based on number of paid contract days. Salary and placement will be in accordance with the District's Salary Schedule for licensed employees for the 2025/26 school year. Dependent upon contract days, verified years of experience and education as shown on official transcripts. Additional yearly stipend for ASHA CCC certification.

New staff in-service will be held 8/19/2025-8/20/2025 and will be paid in addition to contract days.

Student Services training will be held 8/21/2025 and will be paid in addition to contract days.
