ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR ANNUAL GIVING

Manlius Pebble Hill School ( mphschool.org ), Central New York’s top-ranked independent school, seeks a collaborative and creative Associate Director for Annual Giving to join our Development Team. Over the past year, MPH has doubled its Annual Fund, increased enrollment, and embarked on an exciting strategic planning process. The incoming Associate Director will play a pivotal role in this upward trajectory, fostering a joyful tradition of community connections and philanthropy among our stakeholders and advancing the mission of the region’s oldest independent school.

This is a full-time, 12-month staff position with excellent benefits, including medical, dental, and life insurance as well as an employer-matching retirement savings plan. The Associate Director for Annual Giving reports to the Director of Development and is responsible for the organization, management, and growth of the MPH Annual Fund. As a key member of the development team, the Associate Director works in close collaboration with other team members to strengthen community engagement and grow the culture of philanthropy among all constituents of the school, including parents, alumni, and friends. This is a small team with a collaborative, “can-do” approach.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with the Director of Development to meet the school’s financial fundraising targets. Participate in donor research, cultivation and stewardship, Annual Fund leadership gift solicitations and other collaborative efforts to increase community participation in fundraising and meet school’s financial fundraising targets.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive yearly Annual Fund strategy, including Annual Fund appeals, donor communications and community cultivation efforts. Track and evaluate the effectiveness of strategy.
  • Manage the Annual Fund Volunteer Committee to support their involvement with fundraising efforts among the school’s constituent groups.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications and vendors to design direct mail materials, online web pages, e-mail solicitations, social media postings, and videos.
  • Assist the Advancement Associate for Events and Donor Relations in the planning of the school’s annual Gala event, with specific responsibilities to help drive ticket sales and secure event sponsors.
  • Develop strategy for a reunion giving program in partnership with the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to develop meaningful relationships with donors, parents, faculty/staff, and friends of the school
  • Desire to build strong community connections within the school including with staff, parents, and students to enhance the Development Team’s role as an essential aspect of school life
  • Attend evening and weekend obligations as needed - including donor events, regional alumni gatherings, school-wide community events, Alumni Weekend events, and others
  • Outstanding organizational abilities and strong attention to detail
  • Command of office technology tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, Constant Contact and Raiser’s Edge database; experience with organizational social media and/or design, a plus
  • Previous independent school, collegiate, or non-profit fundraising/development and volunteer management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
