Western New England University invites applications for a leadership position in experiential education within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The title will be Executive Director of Experiential Affairs or Assistant Dean of Experiential Affairs, depending on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. The faculty appointment will be at the Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor level (non-tenure track).

Position Description

The candidate will provide leadership and oversight for the experiential education program within the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. Experiential education is a core component of the program and includes both Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) across a variety of healthcare settings.

The position will work collaboratively with faculty, preceptors, administrators, and healthcare partners to ensure the continued development, quality, and accreditation compliance of experiential training opportunities.

This position includes both administrative leadership and faculty responsibilities. Approximately 75% of the workload is dedicated to administration of the experiential education program, including oversight of IPPE and APPE experiences, development of experiential practice sites, preceptor development, and program assessment. The remaining 25% of the workload is allocated to faculty responsibilities, including teaching, scholarship, and service consistent with the expectations of faculty at Western New England University.

The teaching expectation is approximately one course (or equivalent credit load) per academic year. The position will also serve as Instructor of Record for experiential education courses within the PharmD curriculum.

The position oversees coordination of experiential partnerships associated with the Distance Learning Pathway located throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as international experiential rotations including the interprofessional APPE program in Ghana.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership and administration of the experiential education program within the PharmD curriculum

Oversight of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of IPPE and APPE rotations

Development and maintenance of experiential practice sites and partnerships

Coordination of student placement in experiential rotations with faculty and preceptors

Development and implementation of preceptor training and development activities

Ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and experiential program requirements

Participation in teaching, scholarship, and service consistent with a faculty appointment

QualificationsApplicants must possess:

A PharmD and eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts)

Experience in experiential education, clinical practice, or academic leadership

Evidence of teaching, scholarship, and professional service appropriate for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level

Experience with experiential program administration, accreditation processes, and preceptor development is preferred.
