Evening Supervisor & School Counselor

Work Year: 10-month, Part Time

Department: Shoreline Adult Education (SAE)

Reports to: Director of Adult Education

Location: Branford High School/Morgan High School (Clinton)

Hourly Rate: $48.00

Position Overview: As an integral member of the SAE Management Team, this role provides administrative leadership and comprehensive counseling services for adult learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Site Leadership

Serve as a member of the SAE Management Team. Act as the primary supervisor for all evening activities and staff at the Branford site. Coordinate with security to ensure a safe environment and resolve any on-site incidents.

  • Academic Counseling & Planning

Guide students through high school diploma options. Review student transcripts, coordinate intake testing with the Program Facilitator, and lead the creation of individualized student Career Plans.

  • Career Navigation & Post-Secondary Transition

Facilitate exploration of post-secondary education and training, assist with enrollment processes, and maintain partnerships with employer/workforce and post-secondary organizations.

  • Staff Supervision & Evaluation

Supervise and support the Communication and Enrichment Coordinator. Conduct formal evaluations of identified certified staff using the SAE Evaluation system.

Education & Experience:

  • Proven experience in educational leadership and school counseling. Experience with adult education is a plus
  • Must hold valid Connecticut Teaching Certification with Endorsement 092 (Intermediate Administration or Supervision) AND Endorsement 068 (School Counselor) or another related field.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace Applications
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple sites, and a commitment to working with diverse adult learner populations

Work Schedule:

  • Approximately 14 hours per week
  • Monday: 4:00 PM - 8:15 PM
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: 4:00 PM - 8:45 PM

Physical and Cognitive Demands:

Work in this classification is performed in classroom and school environments with adult learners. The position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and community members. Regular use of computers and instructional technology is required.
