    Who We Are:
    Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

    What We Need:
    The Elementary Principal will lead the charge to ensure all students have access to high quality instructional. The Elementary Principal must have strong knowledge of standards-aligned pedagogy, paired with an ability to strategically and systematically implement improvement efforts to close the achievement gap.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. To serve as the instructional leader of the building;
    2. Establishes a school climate based on an educational philosophy that encourages a cooperative and participating attitude on the part of all teachers and students focused on both student and adult learning
    3. Generates a sense of school community by communicating and involving varied audiences in shared values, beliefs and commitment to goals;
    4. Helps teachers to work together in a focused way to use student data linked to the improvement of instruction in order to increase student academic achievement aligned to the new Illinois Learning Standards.
    5. Administers, coordinates, supervises and evaluates the implementation of the Board approved instructional program;
    6. Implements, monitors, and communicates school improvement work by conducting an analysis of academic data, attendance records, discipline reports, feedback from staff, students, and parents, and other forms of formal and informal data.
    7. Evaluates, observes, counsels and motivates all staff toward performances to attain the educational goals of the school and District
    8. Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment in cooperation with central office leadership, teachers, parents, students and community;
    9. Implements all District programs, (i.e. RtI, academic, behavior, special education, bilingual), essential expectations, and procedures with fidelity;
    10. Serves as a model of professional growth by keeping abreast of current educational trends and research and participating with staff in District-wide and building-level professional development opportunities;
    11. Manages the behavior of students in the building and on school grounds in accordance with district policy and procedures, and implements district policies regarding pupil behavior and pupil regulations.
    12. Creates a safe and orderly school environment in compliance with state and local expectations;
    13. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with parents and the community;
    14. Resolves difficult situations by using conflict resolution strategies.
    15. Maximizes and manages fiscal resources to realize school goals.
    16. Performs all other acts reasonable and necessary to accomplish his/her primary function as requested by the Area Superintendent and the Division of School Leadership and Development.

    Qualifications:

    2. Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically.
    3. Openness to feedback and willingness to take personal responsibility.
    4. Passion to embrace the goals of raising achievement for all students and closing the achievement gaps.
    5. Capacity to coach, monitor and evaluate strategies put in place to raise student achievement.
    6. Hold a Master's Degree with an administrative endorsement.
    7. Be able to successfully work in a collaborative environment.
    8. Ability to interact with teachers, parents, outside agencies, and central services staff.

    Work Environment: Busy office and school environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.

    Safety: The employee is responsible for taking any and all steps necessary to protect yourself and others against occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses.

    Terms of Employment: Twelve months.

    Compensation: Per Non-Contractual Administrators Salary Structure
