Job Description

The Instructional Design Consultant (IDC) is a key contributor to the success of the Education Services team. This position is responsible for the design, creation, and maintenance of innovative learning solutions to enhance product education for our high-tech medication management solutions. The IDC functions as a strategic business partner to understand performance needs and organizational constraints/requirements to determine innovative learning solutions. The IDC is responsible for relationship management with their key business partners on product use, installation, support, and service for several products. The IDC executes on key driver components of Education Services strategy for associates and customers.

Key responsibilities:

Organizational Success

Support strategies and synergies across Professional Services and/or Technical Service functions and customer training programs

Collaborate with Marketing, R D, Readiness, Implementation, and GCS leadership to ensure business and training strategy alignment

Set individual priorities in context with team priorities to meet goals in the face of multiple demands

Instructional Design and eLearning Development

Designs, develops, and delivers/implements innovative and creative learning solutions (web-based training, technical training videos, job aids, guides, etc.) utilizing a variety of methods and eLearning authoring tools

Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) and key business partners to develop and deliver learning solutions using adult learning principles to enhance the learning experience

Communicates and collaborates with Education LPC's (instructors) on learning solution deliverables

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of and applies the latest relevant research and methodologies in instructional design

Leverages the principles of user experience and responsive design

Employs agile, iterative development methodologies

Learning and Performance Consulting

Assesses learning and performance needs to craft effective and efficient plans for performance solutions and services that address business-specific requirements and constraints

Partners with Business leaders, R D, Marketing, customers, and Global Customer Service stakeholders to build highly technical learning solutions that produce measurable positive results

Support the development and delivery of high-quality training and performance solutions

Effectively resolves issues or determines if escalation is needed. Escalates using a solution-oriented approach

Work across diverse teams, cultures, and time zones

Project Management

Communicate and collaborate with Education Services Learning & Performance Consultants (instructors) to ensure alignment with education programs, performance solutions, and learning paths

Maintain knowledge of assigned MMS product(s) and stay informed about and plan for upcoming product releases; manage learning path curriculum development for assigned product(s)

Leads, monitors, and reports on the progress of projects, ensuring the accuracy of status reports and data related to team metrics

Flexes with business strategy changes and acts as a key contributor in a complex environment

Creates and maintains detailed project plans for each project

Balance workload in a fast-paced environment, while working on multiple concurrent projects

Business Relationships & Alignment

Support Education Services strategic initiatives with cross-business impact and involvement

Create and manage professional communications through a variety of platforms: SharePoint portals, forums, email, bulletins, etc.

Agile and flexible to evolving business strategies

Navigate within a matrixed environment

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Professional Skills & Key Competencies

Ability to develop learning solutions/deliverables based on knowledge of learning methodologies, cognitive science, user-centered design research, adult learning requirements, needs assessment and evaluation

Can quickly learn new products, applications, and systems

Demonstrated knowledge of agile, iterative development methodologies

Effective communicator: an individual who possesses skilled written/verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present his/her views in a clear and compelling manner

Adaptability; learns quickly and responds positively to complexity and change

Comfortable working in an environment that is constantly evolving

Education Qualifications & Previous Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Communication, or related field required. Master's degree in Performance Improvement, Education Technology, Instructional Design, Adult Education, Interactive Media or Learning Systems preferred

2+ years' experience in Instructional Design or learning solutions with an emphasis on eLearning required

Experience developing eLearning (web-based training modules), technical training videos (script writing, production, and video editing), documentation, presentations and other training materials maintained in a Learning Management System (LMS) required

Experience with Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Camtasia, Captivate or other learning authoring tools required. Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

Desired/Additional Skills & Knowledge:

Industry experience with customer support organizations and/or medical devices product implementation and support in a global environment preferred

Additional Information

Ability to travel up to 25%.
