The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9th - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City. Why We Do This Work: The Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 has set an ambitious agenda for change, guided by the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels and academic gaps can and will be eliminated with the support of teachers who deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous instruction that excites students and instills a love of learning in them. What We Need: The Secretary will be directly responsible to the Site Coordinator for all matters pertaining to the operation of the school plan, in-building administrative and personnel procedures, and general or district-wide policies. General Summary: Maintain office procedures and tasks for the smooth running of Summer School. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to roster students, take attendance, update Summer School information and related reports, access and revise student information in Infinite Campus, and update and communicate bussing information. Answer phones and a respond to parent and staff questions. Education and Experience Required: Must have experience as a school secretary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prior to students entering, the Summer School secretary will roster class lists and provide these to the Summer School Coordinator to distribute. Check and assist to correct any discrepancies in IC in regard to registration for Summer School and notify staff and parents as needed of changes. Develop a list of student health issues based on teacher submission to share with the Coordinator and pertinent staff. Maintain all necessary data in SIS relating to the student record, including but not limited to: Households, Phone, Address, etc. Check attendance line and record student attendance via SIS daily. Answer phones and respond to parent and staff questions in a timely and accurate manner by setting up and using a Remind App account. Process staff absences and payroll in collaboration with Site Supervisor in accordance with Payroll timelines. Serve as a liaison of communication for the Summer School Coordinator. Observe policy of confidentiality regarding knowledge of students. Help build positive public relations with the building staff. Work collaboratively with all personnel. Implement strategies per directives. Assist in maintaining accurate records for monitoring student attendance. Other duties as assigned by the Summer School Coordinator, which are consistent with the collective bargaining agreement. Salary: Per Contract for Hourly Pay Application Deadline: Candidates must submit an online application to be received by the closing date. Schools with over 175 students would have a 4-day secretary and schools with fewer than 175 students would have a 2-day secretary. Currently scheduled for: Professional Development May 28, 2026 Student attendance dates: June 2 through June 30, 2026 PreK- 8th Grade Student attendance: 8:30 am - 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday 9-12th Grade Student attendance: Session A 8 - 11:30am Session B 12:15 - 3:45pm Monday through Thursday Waukegan School District is not responsible for any unforeseen calendar changes that might be decided by the District.
