POSITION GOAL:

Maintain and monitor all health records for students and staff; to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children; identify and assist in removing health-related barriers to the learning process; and prevent illness and disability and correct health problems and assess and refer as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver state-mandated health services and counseling.

Provide health education.

Compile and maintain confidential list of all student problems and conditions.

Maintain and monitor safe school environment.

Promote measures to prevent spread of illness and disease.

Promote early detection and correction of health problems by way of assessment and screenings.

Participate as a member of Instructional Support Team.

Administer all medications and treatments.

Provide referrals to reliable sources for children with health-related problems.

Conduct kindergarten registration and speak at kindergarten roundup.

Maintain records for and provide screenings of all nonpublic schools in district.

Assist principal, counselor, IST and parents to resolve students' problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

Bachelor's Degree.

Registered Nurse License.

Pennsylvania School Nurse Certification.

Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.

Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.

Ability to apply knowledge of current research, theory, regulations, and policies to school health program.

Well organized with good time management skills.

Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.

Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

190 days, 7 hours 30 minutes per day.

Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Roberts Education Association.

Bachelor's Degree starting $58,000; Master's Degree starting $64,000; Final salary determined by education and experience.
