Position Description
St. Michael Parish School is seeking a Dean of Students . The ideal candidate will possess:
- A current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administration endorsement, or Type 75.
- Prior teaching experience required; prior administrator experience preferred.
- Dynamic leadership qualities that build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written).
- Knowledge and practices as it relates to supporting (all) students' ability to learn.
The Dean of Students is appointed by and reports to the principal. The ideal candidate will join the local administrative team made up of the Principal and Assistant Principal.
Major areas of responsibility include day-to-day supervision of student life and building supervision, attendance and discipline.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Works to always promote a positive school climate.
Oversees student discipline and student attendance.
Serves as the first point of contact with parents for all attendance and disciplinary incidents.
Assists students in understanding policies and procedures as they relate to student behavior and attendance.
Works collaboratively with the Principal, Assistant Principal and teachers when handling student problems of an attendance or disciplinary nature.
Prepares behavior agreements for students placed on disciplinary and/or social probation.
Assists the efforts of teachers in maintaining appropriate student behavior to improve classroom management in compliance with the policies and regulations set forth by the school.
Directs the enforcement of dress code policies.
Serves as a member of school teams such as the Safety and Security Team and the Student Services Team.
Oversees student assembly programs.
Works collaboratively with the Assistant Principal, to update and publish the Student-Parent Handbook.
Conducts and documents annual Safety Drills as required by the State of Illinois.
Collaborates with the Athletic Director and Teachers to monitor Athletic Eligibility for students while in season.
Collaborates with the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal to guarantee that co-curricular events are properly chaperoned.
Assists in supervision of all school dances and other co-curricular events as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
The Dean of Students performs all duties and responsibilities in a professional manner and acts, at all times, in an appropriate personal and professional manner , and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and mission of St. Michael Parish School.

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree highly preferred
Salary
- Starting Salary at $54,490 (Based on Salary Schedule from the Diocese of Joliet)
