School Psychologist or Psych Intern

SKACD is currently accepting applications for a school psychologist or school psych intern. We also welcome practicum students to contact us about PAID school psychology practicum placements which can lead into internship opportunities.

Position Overview
The school psychologists are invaluable resources to our school district and our member schools. School psychologists routinely design educational interventions, observe/monitor student behaviors, directly assess students psychoeducational abilities, engage in the general education intervention process, and participate in eligibility determinations for special education. School psychologists work to promote the social, emotional, and academic welfare of students through consultation, collaboration, counseling, and evaluation.

Position Duties

  1. Conduct assessment of students academic, social, cognitive, emotional and behavioral skills; offer intervention recommendations to school staff

  2. Adhere to safeguards surrounding students privacy and confidentiality

  3. Display appropriate educational standards of behavior, dress, speech and attitude

  4. Demonstrates clear and effective communication

  5. Engage in direct and frequent interactions with Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams

  6. Share knowledge of the IEP process, procedural safeguards, and relevant school law

  7. Provide counseling to students

  8. Coordinate continuity of special education services for students; assist with records transfers

  9. Assist school teams with designing appropriate instructional plans for students with exceptionalities

  10. Engages in collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders

  11. Deliver relevant and timely professional development to school personnel

  12. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of area community support services available to students; inform students and/or parents to these resources as necessary

  13. Stay informed about current trends, research, and legislation in the field of special education, and disseminate relevant information to stakeholders

  14. School psychologists may be assigned to other building or district-level teams (e.g. Emotional Support Team, Professional Development Committee, and/or Building Leadership Teams)

Completes other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors

Health insurance (single person) provided. 403(b) matching plan: up to $100/month. If you are not currently certified/endorsed in your area of special education, we will pay $2000 per semester of your masters program to enable you to become certified. $10,000 towards student loan repayment; we will repay up to $1,000 per semester. This includes student loans you accrued prior to working for SKACD.

Salary Information

Exact salary is determined by computations according to the salary schedule.
