Position Summary:

Renwick School District invites applications for the position of Assistant Superintendent of Academic Affairs. This leadership role provides an exceptional opportunity to collaborate closely with the Superintendent to implement district-wide initiatives that inspire students, empower educators, and strengthen the Renwick community.

The Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in leading initiatives that support academic growth, instructional quality, and continuous improvement across all schools.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Assistant Superintendent will partner with the Superintendent to lead with vision, driving initiatives that make Renwick a standout district.

  1. Curriculum, Assessments & Instruction: Oversee district-wide assessments, ensuring data informs instruction and fuels student success. Lead the charge on innovative curriculum design, assessment strategies, and instructional excellence.
  2. Calendar Committee: Help craft a school calendar that balances learning, fun, and a little breathing room for everyone.
  3. CTE Grants, Courses, Pathways, & Applications: Champion Career and Technical Education, securing grants and designing pathways that prepare students for bright futures.
  4. Data Collection: Turn numbers into insights, guiding decisions that elevate our districts performance.
  5. New Teacher Mentor Program & Orientation: Welcome and nurture our newest educators, helping them thrive from day one.
  6. Professional Development Planning: Create engaging, impactful PD that energizes teachers and staff to bring their A-game.
  7. State Reporting: Tackle reporting for assessments, CTE, Title, and PreK with precision, keeping us compliant.
  8. School Accreditation Support (KESA): Lead the charge in maintaining our high standards through the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation process.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Experience: Proven district-level leadership with a track record in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and operations.
  2. Skills: A blend of strategic thinking, data savvy, and relationship-building to inspire teams and drive results.
  3. Passion: A contagious enthusiasm for creating a positive, innovative learning environment where everyone thrives.
  4. Team Spirit: A collaborative mindset and a love for working alongside a dedicated team to make big things happen.
  5. Masters degree in Education
  6. State of Kansas professional building leadership license with a minimum of three years experience in educational administration
  7. District level licensure endorsement required within the first year
  8. Familiar with Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (school improvement) processes and experience with the four fundamentals (structured literacy, high-quality instruction, standards alignment, balanced assessment system)
  9. Familiar with instructional coaching models and techniques preferred
  10. Experience with Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports preferred
  11. Able to exhibit flexibility and respond to changing needs/priorities in a professional manner

  1. Proven leadership experience at the district level, ideally with a mix of roles in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and operations.

Position Details:

  2. Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
  3. Contract: 12 Month
  4. Location: Renwick School District, Andale, Kansas
  5. Salary Information - Commensurate with background and experience
