PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for the process and procedures to ensure that federal, state and local special education regulations are followed to ensure that students with disabilities receive the services and supports outlined in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification in Special Education
Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per wok day
Minimum lifting requirements - 50 pounds (with assistance)
Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish and maintain audit files to comply with federal, state, and local special education regulations.
Interpret and communicate federal and state IDEA (Part B) regulations to staff, parents, and students.
Schedule and conduct eligibility and IEP meetings according to district protocol.
Work collaboratively with IEP team members in the development of Individualized Education Plans for students with disabilities.
Coordinate and communicate with related sevices personnel (OT, PT, SLT, Transportation, Assistive Tech) for students with disabilities.
Share knowledge with program staff as it relates to special education services for students.
Assist building staff to ensure students with disabilities are provided the core curriculum and scientifically research-based interventions.
Assist building teachers with instructional differentiation strategies, intervention strategies, and accommodations, modifications, and supports for students.
Communicate and provide assistance with district initiatives: Inclusive practices, MTSS, and the statewide IEP.
Provide Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions to groups of students as directed by building administrator.
Serve as an integral member of the Instructional Support/Consultative Team and/or MTSS or Targeted Team.
Collaborate with school psychologist to review referrals for students receiving Tier 3 interventions.
Participate in building/district professional development as it relates to curriculum and instruction within the core content areas of ELA & Math.
Disseminate student record information as appropriate (i.e., teachers, cost recovery, agencies, etc.).
Enter and periodically check accuracy of student data in eSchoolPlus throughout the year.
Enter and update student accommodations information in DELSIS prior to state testing.
Request and/or send records for transferring students among other districts or states in a timely fashion.
Prepare and coordinate referrals for ICT and alternative placements to include all necessary interventions, data collections, and IEP documentation; assist in the delivery of the presentation for ICT.
Other duties as assigned.
