Job Summary:
The Assistant Dean works closely with and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Engineering on all issues related to academic and student affairs. The Assistant Dean carries out their specific duties in coordination with the college as well as other academic and supporting units from across the campus. The Assistant Dean will provide strong leadership in developing, implementing, and continually updating the colleges plans for recruitment and retention. They are expected to practice, advocate and promote the highest of standards for academic achievement, honesty and professional integrity. The Assistant Dean will assist the Dean on other initiatives as assigned.

Review of applications will begin December 1, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.

Scope:
The Assistant Dean will lead efforts in the College of Engineering in the areas of student recruitment and admissions, academic advising, and student retention.

Principal Responsibilities:
- Provide a leadership role for the recruitment of students to the College of Engineering and coordinate with the Office of Admissions
- Lead the admissions process for all students within the College of Engineering

- Lead retention and persistence efforts within the College of Engineering

- Provide input to the Dean on a broad range of topics.
- Serve as a resource for advising students on personal issues in addition to academic issues
- Serve as a resource to standing and ad hoc committees of the College of Engineering
- Teach selected courses (typically one annually) in their technical area of expertise
- Actively participate in scholarly and/or professional development activities

Required Skills:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

- Must be willing to show interest and enthusiasm when meeting with students, prospective students, faculty, and staff.

- Must be able to to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Masters Degree, with a degree in engineering or a related field.
Individuals with a Ph.D. in engineering and/or professional experience are encouraged to apply.
