JOB GOAL: Administers resources available to create a climate for instructional
excellence and the educational development of each student as
directed by the principal.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Promote an environment/climate conducive to productive performance.
Plan for and manages the resources for which he/she is responsible,
including personnel, finances, facilities, programs, and time.
Communicate accurately and effectively.
Use supervision, staff development, and performance evaluation to improve the
program of the district.
Demonstrate leadership.
Demonstrate an understanding of political theory.
Comply with all School Board policies and administrative regulations.
Facilitates the planning and development of curriculum and instructional goals for
school staff and students.
Monitors and facilitates the progress of programs toward established goals.
Uses supervision, staff development, and performance evaluation to improve the
instructional process of the school. To do this, the assistant principal follows procedures
consistent with the state and local Teacher Performance Evaluation Plan.
Stays current with new school programs and practices training and educational literature.
Completes required reports and communications throughout the year.
Participates in the hiring of new staff members as requested.
Enhances public relations with community members, parents, staff, and students.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervise all staff attached to the school when directed.
Supervise all other resource and service personnel while functioning in assigned
school.
Supervise extra curricular activities.
Is able to demonstrate or explain the essential duties of other employees in the
building including custodial, instructional, and secretarial.
Responsible for the appropriate scheduling of classes.
Execute such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's degree.
A valid New Mexico administrative license.
At least three years of classroom teaching experience.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find
appropriate and acceptable.
- Elementary or Secondary experience preferred.
