The counselor will implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) framework and Michigan Department of Education (MDE) guidelines. Qualifications Valid Michigan School Counselor License (NT endorsement) OR Michigan teaching certificate with a School Counselor (NT) endorsement Or in an accredited program working toward these credentials Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field Demonstrated knowledge of: Michigan Merit Curriculum (MMC) Postsecondary readiness and career pathways Social-emotional learning frameworks Experience working with high school students preferred Essential Duties and Responsibilities Academic Development Assist students with course selection and graduation planning aligned with Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements Monitor student progress toward graduation and provide interventions as needed Collaborate with staff to support academic success and MTSS frameworks Career & College Readiness Guide students in developing Educational Development Plans (EDPs) as required by the State of Michigan Provide postsecondary planning support (college, career, military, trades) Coordinate college applications, financial aid awareness (FAFSA), and scholarship opportunities Social-Emotional Support Provide short-term individual and group counseling Support students with social, emotional, and behavioral concerns Make referrals to outside agencies when appropriate Assist in crisis response and intervention Program Implementation Deliver a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with ASCA National Model Maintain accurate student records in compliance with FERPA Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school social worker, and families Participate in IEP/504 meetings as appropriate Master Scheduling In coordination with the principal, develop and manage the annual master schedule to ensure alignment with graduation requirements, staffing allocations, and student needs Adjust student schedules as needed throughout the school year Utilize student data and course requests to optimize scheduling efficiency State Testing Coordination In coordination with the principal, serve as the school's State Testing Coordinator for all required Michigan assessments (e.g., MSTEP, PSAT, SAT, WIN, etc.) Coordinate test administration logistics, including: Scheduling testing windows Training staff on testing procedures and security protocols Managing testing materials and technology readiness Maintain test security and confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines Oversee accurate student test assignments and accommodations in collaboration with case managers and the Supervisor of Student Services Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to analyze student data and implement interventions Familiarity with student information systems and counseling tools Ethical practice aligned with ASCA and MDE standards Application Process Interested candidates must apply online at: Application Deadline: Until Filled Equal Opportunity Statement Atherton Community Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or any other legally protected status.
