ESY Wilson Reading Instructor

NOW HIRING! The Extended School Year (ESY) Wilson Reading Instructor provides specialized reading intervention services to students identified through their IEPs who require continued literacy support during the summer to prevent regression and support skill retention. This position focuses on delivering structured, multisensory, rules-based reading instruction using the Wilson Language Training Reading System or a comparable evidence-based program.

Primary Responsibilities

Review student IEPs to determine reading service goals, accommodations, and required instructional minutes.

Provide direct Wilson Reading instruction in 1:1 and small group settings aligned to IEP goals.

Develop and implement lesson plans using the Wilson Reading System with fidelity and consistency.

Differentiate instruction based on student needs, progress monitoring data, and individual learning profiles.

Maintain student attendance, instructional records, and progress monitoring documentation.

Complete ESY progress reports and communicate student progress with families and case managers.

Collaborate with special education teachers, related service providers, and administrators to support student success.

Support classroom staff and site coordinators as needed when not providing direct Wilson instruction.

Ensure a safe, structured, and positive learning environment during student arrival, instruction, and dismissal.

Participate in required ESY staff training and professional development.

Qualifications

Valid teaching certification in Special Education, Reading Specialist, or related field

Wilson Reading certification/training (Level 1 and 2 preferred; higher certification preferred)

Experience working with students with reading disabilities, dyslexia, or specific learning disabilities

Knowledge of IEP implementation and progress monitoring

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience with small-group intervention and structured literacy practices

Preferred Qualifications

Previous ESY experience

Experience with progress monitoring tools and literacy assessments

Familiarity with Orton-Gillingham or other structured literacy approaches

Schedule: The 2026 extended school year will run Monday, July 6, 2025, through Thursday, July 23, 2025. The program will offer services to students Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. All staff members will receive 1 hour of paid planning time, daily, as well as 4 (4 hour) days to prepare.

Salary: $25.00 per hour
