POSITION: ITINERANT SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
PreK BRIDGE Therapeutic Intervention Program & SLP School Service Provider
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually.
SALARY Pursuant to WV Code 18A-4-2, in accordance with Kanawha County Teach Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code 18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and KCS G48A.
JOB SUMMARY:
The person assigned to Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist in this capacity is to provide integrated speech, language and communication classroom supports for effective implementation of the PreK BRIDGE Therapeutic Intervention Program and deliver/case manage the SLP services needs at the assigned school for exceptional students.
GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
An employee working for Kanawha County Schools is expected to comply with all the Kanawha County Schools Policies and Procedures, including maintaining regular attendance and completing all required training. Employees are required to follow all safety rules to maintain a safe workplace.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Job Duties.
Provides continuous support to the two PreK BRIDGE Therapeutic Intervention Program classrooms
Collaborates with the PreK BRIDGE program staff to ensure appropriate communication and language needs of the students are met
Ensures continuous monitoring and support of student's needs and progress of speech, language and communication needs of all students in the PreK BRIDGE Therapeutic Intervention Program.
Evaluates students specifying appropriate therapy in a timely manner.
Provides speech and language services at the assigned school location as specified in the Individual Education Program or 504 Plans.
Serves as Medicaid provider to refer and deliver services for speech/language therapy and any other services required by Medicaid procedure.
Participates in PreK BRIDGE program meetings, as well as MDET, Eligibility and IEP Committee Meetings.
Participates in the development of the Individualized Education Program.
Develops and participates in trans-disciplinary therapy, between related service providers and conducts training and modeling with educators, special educators and/or aide in building for continuity/repetition.
Develops therapy schedule with the building administrator and PreK BRIDGE support team.
Develops and prepares materials and equipment to be used in delivering therapy and supporting the PreK BRIDGE Program classroom needs.
Provides individual and group therapy for both PreK BRIDGE programs and exceptional students.
Formulates individual therapy plans when appropriate.
Assists the OT, ABA Specialist, and teachers in modifying activities to promote the student's speech and language development and participation in various activities.
Assists classroom personnel with activities of social skills and functional communication
Knowledge and ability to provide service delivery in school setting
Knowledge of IEP development, documentation, Medicaid billing and progress notes
Provide supervision for SLPA (if applicable)
Maintains SLP Case manager and service provider duties for all required paperwork
Follows WVDE Policy 2419 requirements
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in applicable Speech Language Pathology from an accredited institution
WVDE Professional Student Support Certificate
