Job Description
The Elementary Assistant Principal will assist the Principal in providing professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate a creative school program. To accomplish these tasks, the Elementary Assistant Principal will work closely with the community, staff, and administration of the Pine Bluff School District.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree with certification in Elementary Administration, Elementary Administration and Supervision with emphasis in Curriculum, Educational Leadership or school Principal
Three (3) years certified administrator experience required
Valid Arkansas teaching license with applicable endorsements
Excellent leadership qualities and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of the principles and practices of school administration, including school finance, teaching methods and techniques, evaluations, and program development
Strong ability to present ideas effectively, verbally and in writing
Strong ability to plan, organize, assign and coordinate the activities of a professional and support staff
Performance Responsibilities:
Assists in selection, supervision and performance based evaluation of both certified and classified staff
Assists in establishing an optimal learning environment within the school
Analyzes and utilizes all summative, formative, and common assessment data for the improvement of curriculum for instruction and student achievement
Assists in developing and implementing school restructuring programs, consensus and team building models, interdisciplinary teams, and shared decision-making.
Understand how to disaggregate and experience using data in order to drive instruction in a school
Responsibility for the safe operation of the physical plant and the general welfare of all students, staff, parents, and patrons on or about the school site
Develops and implements school restructuring programs, consensus and team building models, interdisciplinary teams, and shared decision-making
Ability to communicate well and to apply leadership skills within a shared decision-making model
Ability and willingness to follow directions given and to perform assigned duties in accordance with applicable guidelines, policies and procedures
Provides on-going technical assistance to teachers
Assists the Principal in school improvement including testing and curriculum improvement
Assists the Principal in the administration of school reports and records
Encourages and supports the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate
Ensures that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods
Conducts conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers
Assists the Principal in administration of effective day to day operation of the campus
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee
