COLLEGE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR - Full Time

Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is seeking candidates for a full-time College Guidance Counselor. This is a 12-month position with hours based on school schedule and departmental needs. The individual will serve as a full-time College Guidance Counselor in our Catholic High School and will be responsible for adhering to the policies and procedures in accordance with the standards set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Ohio Department of Education. The ideal candidate will have experience in rigorous planning and implementation, background in a diverse school environment, effective integration of technology, and the ability to equitably assess all students. Other job responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating with parents and colleagues in a professional manner, participation in faculty or committee meetings, and supervising students in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities Include:

Guide students through all aspects of the college planning, including application process, financial aid (FAFSA) and scholarship application processes

Manage college programs and scholarship information for parents and students.

Maintain collaborative relationships with colleges and universities.

Provide career exploration for students including but not limited to summer programs and internships.

Assume responsibilities related to NCAA eligibility, Naviance and the Common App

Assume responsibility for monitoring student records and providing the necessary information for college transcripts and post-high school student applications.

Work with Athletic Department and the NCAA Athletic Clearinghouse in managing the database

Work 1:1 advising students with their college search and applications.

Work with the Dean of Academics to prepare for graduation and baccalaureate activities including awards and diploma verification.

Coordinate college planning and financial aid sessions with CollegeNOW.

Serve as committee member on the Academic Council

Coordinate and implement Career Fair on an annual basis.

Provide Student and Alumni data to track matriculation

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and Dean of Academics.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree highly preferred, in Counseling

Strong knowledge of the college admissions process, financial aid, and retention in higher education

Willing to pursue partnerships with businesses for enhanced student opportunities in a variety of fields

Occasional evenings and weekends as needed

Knowledge of PowerSchool, Naviance, NCAA Clearinghouse, Parchment, and Final Forms

Able to pass FBI/BCI background check

Experience working in an urban high school setting

Uphold the values of the Catholic faith

VIRTUS certified or willing to be certified
