Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage overall campus operations. Provide instructional leadership to ensure high-quality teaching and learning, continuous school improvement, and increased student achievement. Ensure compliance with district policies, state and federal requirements, and accountability standards, including the Texas Education Agency (TEA) AF Accountability System, while maintaining a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master's degree in educational administration
  • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
  • Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Knowledge of the Texas AF Accountability System, including domain indicators (Student Achievement, School Progress, Closing the Gaps)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret multiple data sources (STAAR, formative assessments, accountability reports, attendance, discipline, MTSS data)
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to implement campus improvement plans aligned to district goals and accountability targets
  • Ability to manage budgets, personnel, and campus resources
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, including special programs (Special Education, 504, Dyslexia, ESL/Bilingual)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in instructional leadership roles

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Leadership and Management

  • Monitor instructional practices to ensure alignment with curriculum standards and campus performance goals; use data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of high-quality instructional systems that support student achievement and accountability growth.
  • Ensure instructional resources, materials, and technology are available and effectively utilized to meet instructional goals.
  • Establish clear expectations for instructional strategies, classroom management, and professional conduct.
  • Foster collaboration, collegiality, and shared leadership among staff; encourage active participation in decision-making processes.
  • Implement and monitor MTSS/RTI frameworks to support academic and behavioral needs of all students.

School Improvement and Accountability

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP) aligned with district priorities and AF Accountability performance indicators.
  • Establish, monitor, and communicate campus performance objectives related to student achievement, school progress, and closing achievement gaps.
  • Analyze accountability data and assessment results to guide instructional decisions, professional development, and resource allocation.
  • Communicate campus progress toward accountability goals to staff, parents, and the community in a transparent and effective manner.

Student Management and Campus Climate

  • Serve as campus behavioral coordinator in accordance with state laws and district guidelines.
  • Implement a student discipline system that promotes positive behavior, equity, and a safe learning environment.
  • Ensure consistent and fair application of the Student Code of Conduct and campus handbook.
  • Conduct conferences with parents, students, and staff regarding academic, behavioral, and campus-related issues.

Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Management

  • Ensure compliance with district policies and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Develop and manage campus budgets aligned to instructional priorities, accountability goals, and documented program needs.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, including attendance and required state reporting.
  • Oversee campus facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe environment that supports learning.

Personnel Management

  • Select, assign, supervise, evaluate, and recommend personnel actions for all campus staff.
  • Conduct formal and informal observations and evaluations using T-TESS and other district-approved systems.
  • Coach staff and support professional growth aligned with instructional improvement and campus goals.
  • Collaborate with campus committees to plan and implement professional development responsive to data and accountability needs.

School and Community Relations

  • Articulate and promote the school's mission and vision to parents and the community.
  • Build strong partnerships with families and community stakeholders to support student success and campus initiatives.

Safety and Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of district safety protocols, emergency procedures, and crisis response plans.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and dismissal of all campus staff, including assistant principal(s), teachers, counselors, librarian(s), instructional aides, clerical staff, and custodians.
