Assistant Principal for Student Services (Special Education)
12 month, beginning July 1, 2026
Position Summary:
Responsible for supervising, evaluating, implementing and unifying programs in the Special Education departments, developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum and instruction for students needing special services (IEP, 504 plans, and at-risk) to increase student achievement to meet college and career expectations.
Qualifications:
- Professional Educator License with Principal and LBS1 Endorsement (preferred); teaching experience in Special Education (preferred)
- Ability to interact effectively with a variety of audiences.
- Ability to collaborate and solve problems
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of IDEA, State and Federal education laws and regulations as they pertain to special education and at-risk students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working knowledge and implementation of the District's discipline and attendance policies and procedures
- Collaborate with District school administrators, special education teachers, social workers, psychologists, and school counselor for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
- Evaluate programs, case management and personnel and monitor the implementation of programs and compliance with regulations.
- Direct the Medicaid Administrative Claiming process and direct-billing of Medicaid-eligible services.
- Coordinate with outside agencies to provide services to students in outside placements.
- Supervise and train support staff for the purpose of assuring instructional practices are met for students receiving services.
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to determine the scope and sequence needed for services and programming of students with special needs.
- Coordinates and monitors the implementation of the strategic plan.
- Evaluate certified and support staff as assigned.
Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000 (based on experience)
