Position Summary
The Virtual School Psychologist is responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations, supporting eligibility determination, and providing consultation and intervention services to ensure students with disabilities receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in accordance with IDEA and Massachusetts regulations (603 CMR 28.00). This role operates within a fully virtual environment and requires strong collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and adherence to all compliance timelines and documentation requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Evaluation and Assessment
Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations (initial and reevaluations) within required timelines (45 school working days from consent).
Select, administer, and interpret a variety of standardized and non-standardized assessments.
Conduct record reviews, interviews (parent, teacher, student), and virtual observations.
Prepare clear, compliant, and defensible written reports that:
Address all areas of suspected disability
Provide data for eligibility determination
Include educational impact and recommendations
2. Eligibility and Team Participation
Serve as a core member of the IEP Team.
Present evaluation findings in a clear, understandable manner.
Support teams in applying MA eligibility criteria (disability, adverse effect, need for specially designed instruction).
Assist in developing data-driven IEP goals and service recommendations.
3. Consultation and Intervention Support
Collaborate with teachers, Team Chairs, and service providers to support student learning and behavior.
Provide consultation on:
Social-emotional and behavioral interventions
Executive functioning supports
Crisis prevention and response
Assist in developing and monitoring intervention plans.
4. Progress Monitoring and Data Analysis
Support teams in analyzing student progress data and evaluating intervention effectiveness.
Contribute to data-based decision-making for IEP development and service adjustments.
Participate in MTSS processes as needed.
5. Compliance and Documentation
Ensure all evaluations and reports are completed within state timelines.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in district systems (e.g., Frontline).
Adhere to all confidentiality requirements (FERPA, IDEA).
Participate in audit readiness activities (e.g., CPR, internal reviews).
6. Virtual Service Delivery
Conduct evaluations, meetings, and consultations using virtual platforms.
Engage effectively with students and families in a remote environment.
Utilize technology to support assessment, communication, and service delivery.
7. Professional Responsibilities
Participate in professional development and ongoing training.
Collaborate with colleagues in team meetings, supervision, and problem-solving sessions.
Maintain licensure and stay current with best practices and regulations.
