As an academic advisor assigned to work under federal guidelines on the TRIO / SSS Program, the primary focus of this position is to ensure compliance with TRIO / SSS Program regulations. Provides comprehensive advising and student services support for students, with a focus on services that promote student success and retention. Coordinates the qualitative and quantitative experience of all Program students in assigned caseload. Assumes responsibility for the following initiatives: academic, personal, and career advising and counseling; developing intervention/referral strategies; assessment and tracking of student caseload; facilitating a successful transition to appropriate college program. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Job Summary:
As an academic advisor assigned to work under federal guidelines on the TRIO / SSS Program, the primary focus of this position is to ensure compliance with TRIO / SSS Program regulations. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college.
- Three (3) years of experience in advising, mentoring, tutoring, student programming or student services in an educational or programming setting.
- Experience working with student populations and recruitment efforts.
- Experience using an early alert/advising system powered by predictive analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree, preferably in student personnel services, adult learning and development, counseling, guidance, education, or a related field of study.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Ability to creatively motivate, empower, and recognize students.
- Ability to increase retention and graduation rates.
- Skilled in effective intervention programs and early outreach plans for students.
- Working knowledge of student development, education policies, and trends.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication skills, the ability to make effective presentations, have strong public speaking skills, develop, and drive change and effectively communicate change.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player, in addition to being self-directed, and forward-thinking.
- Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans.
- Skilled in problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion.
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing large amounts of data, maintaining detailed, comprehensive records, analyzing and organizing information, and having time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a Customer Focus attitude and delivery.
- Knowledge of working with integrated software systems as an end user and utilizing social networking communications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
