Job Description
Washington Central Unified Union School District ("WCUUSD") is seeking an innovative, collaborative and equity-focused leader to join Calais Elementary School (CES) as Principal. CES is a small Elementary School where students, staff, families and community work together to make a learning environment known for students' academic, physical and social achievements. CES is located 10 miles north of Montpelier and is part of a District and community with a commitment to ensuring the best educational opportunities for all students. In addition to leading the school community at Calais, the Principal is a member of the WCUUSD District Leadership team. The successful candidate will share the values embedded in our WCUUSD mission/vision (WCUUSD exists to nurture and inspire in all students the passion, creativity and power to contribute to their local and global communities).
Working in collaboration with the District leadership team, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in the following areas:
A commitment to the principles of educational equity, restorative practices and social emotional learning
Knowledge and experience developing and leading a multi-layered system of supports, including PBIS
A commitment to holding high expectations for all learners
Documented leadership experience and knowledge about special education regulations and evidence based practices
Deep understanding of using data to inform decision making
Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a passion for instructional leadership
Knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment; successful classroom teaching and administrative experience
Experience in supporting professional development and growth, as well as supervision and evaluation
A passion for and knowledge of how to engage our school community and the broader community.
