Job Description

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Kentucky Certificate with proper endorsements.

2. Must hold ASHA Certification.

3. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may

find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS: Principal/Director of Special Education

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

JOB GOAL: To provide assessment of students referred for evaluation, to

participate in educational planning and to hold consultations with

appropriate school personnel and parent/guardians so that maximum

learning may be achieved and maintained by each student in the

district. To reduce or eliminate speech and hearing disorders that

interfere with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the

district's educational program.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet the individual students needs and correct existing speech, language, and voice fluency impairments.

Administers, scores, and interprets speech and individual educational development tests; screens and observes the behavior of students and integrates these findings with other data to assist in program options and placement.

Acts as a Chairperson or consulting member of the prereferral committee or other ARC (Admission and Release Committee) as requested.

Collects and prepares annual and tri-annual evaluation data as determined by Board policy and procedure.

Reviews and recommends appropriate testing materials to meet the needs of the school/district student population.

Coordinates and assists in the provision of a program of assessment for special education students in an efficient and economical manner to ensure that appropriate referral and assessment procedures are followed.

Provides and performs student services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law.

Provides and coordinates training of staff and attends meetings/training in needed areas related to Special Education.

Provides necessary documentation for Medicaid billing, when applicable.

Participates in Peer Review for Medicaid billing, when assigned.

Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal, Director of Special Education or the Superintendent.

TERM OF SERVICE: Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions

of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
