This role works collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders to foster a positive campus culture that supports academic achievement and the social-emotional well-being of all students. The Dean of Students applies performance and change management principles to support the district's vision and goals while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion to meet the needs of all learners. Additional responsibilities include supporting day-to-day campus operations, campus safety, student activities, and other administrative duties as assigned, in alignment with all State and District competencies, domains, and expectations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Ethical Leadership Model respect for the rights, confidentiality, and dignity of others. Engage in honest, professional, and ethical interactions with students, staff, families, and community members. Demonstrate fairness, sensitivity, objectivity, and ethical decision-making in all situations. 2. Visionary Leadership Use data-driven research strategies and strategic planning processes focused on student learning. Analyze student assessment results, demographic data, and community needs to assess progress toward district goals. Effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to support and implement the district vision and mission. 3. Instructional Leadership Utilize qualitative and quantitative data, research methods, technology, and information systems to support school improvement and accountability. Apply human development, learning, motivational, and diversity theories to support student achievement. Support professional development through mentoring, coaching, conferencing, and job-embedded learning practices. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional services through standards-based instruction. 4. Personal and Professional Leadership Maintain current knowledge of district policies, guidelines, and professional best practices. Support and mentor the professional growth of educators and staff. Model lifelong learning and continuous professional growth. 5. Multicultural Leadership Ensure programs for linguistically and culturally diverse students are fully implemented and integrated into district curricula and programs. Analyze disaggregated student achievement data by language, race/ethnicity, gender, and disability. Facilitate professional development that promotes understanding, appreciation, and respect for diversity in language, culture, and socioeconomic background. 6. Disability Leadership Ensure programs and services for students with disabilities are fully implemented and integrated into educational programs. Advocate for the identification and inclusion of student needs within the educational process. 7. Community Relations Leadership Assess and respond to diverse community conditions and dynamics to improve student achievement and district performance. Build collaborative partnerships with families, businesses, community organizations, government agencies, and higher education institutions. Apply effective communication, marketing, and data-informed decision-making practices to strengthen community engagement. 8. Political Leadership Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding district trends, issues, and policies. Advocate for equitable learning opportunities and student success for all students, including students with disabilities and culturally and linguistically diverse populations. 9. Legal and Fiscal Leadership Support the effective and equitable management of fiscal, human, and material resources with priority given to student learning and safety. Apply problem-solving, strategic planning, operational planning, and technology to resource allocation and school operations. 10. Additional Duties Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent. Qualifications Required Qualifications Master's Degree from an accredited college or university. Possess, or be eligible to obtain, a New Mexico PED School Administrative License. Ability to successfully complete employment verification and background check requirements. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Native American and/or Hispanic populations. Minimum of five (5) years of successful licensed teaching experience. Physical Requirements The position may require: Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Moving light furniture and classroom materials as needed. Equipment and Materials Ability to operate, or willingness to learn to operate, multimedia equipment and current instructional technology. Work Environment Ability to work in varying levels of noise, temperature, and air quality. Some responsibilities may require evening, weekend, or after-hours work. Terms of Employment 210-day contract Transportation Increment Full-time staff members working at Santo Domingo School or Cochiti School who live more than 20 miles from their assigned worksite are eligible for an annual transportation increment of $2,000.
