Position Overview:

The Director of Admissions Operations reports to the Executive Director for Admissions & Recruitment and serves as a member of the SEM senior leadership team. This position serves as the chief undergraduate applicant records official for the University, providing leadership and oversight for the application records management function, working closely with central and departmental IT staff to ensure the accuracy and integrity of applicant data and records, expanding the use and functionality of existing and/or new technology, and coordination of all functions of the Admissions Office. The Director conducts continuous evaluation of system tools and serves as a subject matter expert for the Admissions Office in the development of strategies to leverage technology and systems that meet recruitment, admission, and yield needs.

The Director of Admissions Operations interprets institutional, state, and federal regulations as they relate to admission procedures; ensures compliance with Department of Homeland Security policies; develops and implements admission policies and procedures to fulfill the Universitys enrollment objectives; manages technical resources and coordinates upgrades and data integrations related to the administrative computer systems; develops and maintains strategic budget and resource management practices in the administration of the operations budget; and supervises Admissions processing and technical staff. This position develops, implements, and executes admission strategies that fulfill the universitys enrollment objectives, including directing all domestic undergraduate admission functions; providing technical and operational support to other offices that offer university admission, researching and planning departmental initiatives, and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of admission policies, practices, and procedures.

Required Experience:

Three years of management level experience in student admissions

Experience supervising full-time staff

Experience interpreting and implementing academic rules and regulations

Experience developing and implementing operational policies and procedures

Experience working with a complex computerized student information and reporting system

Required Education:

Bachelors degree

Required Other:

Agency (USCIS) requirements require the incumbent to be a US citizen or legal permanent resident

Must be eligible for membership in relevant professional organizations

Experience:

Experience as a supervisor in an academic environment, preferably in an Admissions Office

Skills/Knowledge/Ability to:

Comprehensive knowledge of international education systems and credentials

Thorough knowledge of student records policies and procedures

Thorough knowledge of a computerized admissions system

Ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Ability to interpret and implement academic rules and regulations

Knowledge and understanding of the structure and chain of responsibilities within a university

Ability to analyze areas of need and establish procedures to satisfy that need

Demonstrated evidence of strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills for interaction among students, faculty, administrators, staff and technical personnel

Strong organizational skills
