Occupational Therapist

Reports To: Director of Pupil Personnel Services / Special Education Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation, intervention, and

consultation services to students with disabilities or developmental

delays that interfere with participation and performance in the

educational environment. The OT collaborates with teachers,

administrators, parents, and related service providers to support

students in achieving educational goals and accessing the curriculum

in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students to determine eligibility for occupational therapy services in the school setting.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy goals aligned with students' IEPs.
  • Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to eligible students.
  • Assess and address fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, self-help, and adaptive skill deficits impacting educational performance.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to recommend classroom accommodations and adaptive strategies.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.
  • Maintain accurate records, evaluations, progress reports, and Medicaid documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Recommend and assist with adaptive equipment and assistive technology as appropriate.
  • Monitor student progress and modify intervention plans as needed.
  • Provide training and support to school personnel and families regarding student needs and therapeutic strategies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
  • Comply with all district policies, Ohio Department of Education requirements, and IDEA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services or designee.

Qualifications Required:

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Ohio Occupational Therapist License issued by the Ohio
  • Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Ohio Department of Education credentials as required.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and special education procedures.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a school setting.
  • Experience with sensory integration and assistive technology.
  • Knowledge of intervention strategies for students with autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to assess and develop individualized therapy plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain timely documentation.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and electronic record systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, position, and assist students as needed.
  • Ability to move throughout school buildings and classrooms.
  • Ability to demonstrate therapeutic activities and techniques.

Terms of Employment: Salary:

2026 - 2027 School Year Per the negotiated ECEA Contract
