Description: Scarborough Public Schools seeks a highly effective communicator and student-centered leader to serve as Assistant Superintendent of Schools. The Assistant Superintendent will join the district leadership team in advancing the educational goals and values of the district while supporting responsive programs and services that ensure every student becomes a resilent, lifelong learner.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in educational administration or equivalent in a related field.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in teaching and/or previous school level administrator and/or district office experience preferred.
  • Must possess or be eligible for Maine Certification with endorsement 010 Superintendent of Schools and/or 015 Assistant Superintendent of Schools.
  • Must hold an approved Maine CHRC.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of the Central Office team and collaborates with all departments to ensure that the core mission of the district is achieved.
  • Assists the Superintendent and School Board in undertaking district initiatives.
  • Assists in overseeing, implementing and evaluating the district's strategic plan.
  • Works with the administrative team to build community support for the district's vision and mission.
  • Supports the Superintendent in continuous review and revision of operational goals and objectives.
  • Works collaboratively with district personnel to develop, present and administer the school budget.
  • Oversees departments such as Transportation, School Nutrition, Health Services and Adult Education.
  • Serves as the district's Affirmative Action/Title IX Officer.
  • Assists with Central Office negotiations for district labor contracts.
  • Organizes and/or chairs various committees as directed.
  • Participates in system-wide policy development.
  • Maintains a positive, collaborative and supportive working relationship with community partners, parents, students and district staff.
  • Remains current on developments and innovations in the field.
  • Performs other related work as required.
