School Psychologist

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Master's Degree, CAGS, or Doctoral Degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure as a School Psychologist
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and evaluation procedures
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Reports to: Building Principal

Work Year: School Year (184 days)

Salary/Benefits: Consistent with the negotiated educator salary schedule

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological, educational, behavioral, and social-emotional evaluations for students referred for special education services
  • Interpret evaluation results and prepare written reports in compliance with DESE and federal guidelines
  • Participate as an active member of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team process
  • Provide consultation and support to teachers, administrators, and families regarding student learning, behavior, and mental health needs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions and support plans
  • Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and other intervention frameworks
  • Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments, and counseling support as appropriate
  • Collaborate with school staff and outside agencies to coordinate services for students and families
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, records, and reports
  • Participate in professional development and district initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services or building administration

  • Ability to work in a normal classroom, office and school building environment.
  • Ability to move freely about the building to perform duties with staff.
  • Ability to utilize computers and other administrative technologies appropriate to the position.
