The School Psychologist must maintain an up-to-date, in-field certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. PRIMARY FUNCTION The School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist monitors the completion of evaluations and participates in problem-solving meetings designing systems, programs and services that maximize students' social, emotional, and educational success. In collaboration with staff, families, students, and communities the school psychologist promotes effective educational environments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Integrate multiple sources of data to make appropriate recommendations, identify interventions, and select and administer appropriate assessment instruments. Adhere to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission's Code of Ethics for Educators, all Board policies and regulations, and all local school procedures. Provide consultative support to parents, teachers, and administrators Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and debriefings. Provide crisis intervention and therapeutic support for the student/ staff population. Provide school based mental health services as needed including behavior support, counseling or group interventions Participate in planning and conducting in-service and professional learning for staff and parents. Conduct parent conferences as needed to help parents understand the nature of their child's challenges and recommendations for parent support. Provides consultative support to schools in the areas of Response to Intervention and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Provide other duties as assigned to help with the efficient functioning of the School Psychology Department SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Required experience Education Level: Educational Specialist degree from an accredited university OR Master's degree from an accredited university and Completion of a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)-approved School Psychology program; OR Submission of a valid National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential issued by the National School Psychology Certification Board. Experience, Skill and Certification: Valid Georgia Certificate in School Psychology Preferred Experience: Previous full-time school psychological services experience, including psycho-educational diagnostic testing Experience as a teacher and/or related school experience Experience in developing academic and behavioral interventions for the Response To Intervention (RTI) process PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, or hear.
