Job Description

The Southern Local School District is seeking a leader with the skills and attitude to implement the vision and mission of the Southern Local School Community. A commitment to lifelong learning through school and community involvement is the foundation of the district's vision. The superintendent will partner with the community and staff to provide educational experiences empowering all students to live successful and responsible lives.

The Southern Local Board of Education has identified the following qualifications for the position of Superintendent.

Develop a shared vision for the district.

Be a person of integrity with high standards of honesty, ethics, and personal conduct.

Be highly visible throughout the schools and community as an advocate for all students.

Demonstrate knowledge and experience in Special Education services.

Understand the history, tradition, and culture of the community.

Keep the Board of Education fully informed and current on matters of the school district.

Be a leader who is able to set expectations and district-wide accountability.

Possess a strong school finance background with an ability to work well with the district treasurer.

It is the intention of the Board to offer the successful candidate a multi-year contract. Salary and other fringe benefits are negotiable and will be commensurate with the qualifications of the candidate selected.
