EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Masters Degree

Three years of experience in instructional leadership roles Three years of experience as a classroom teacher

CERTIFICATION:

Valid Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, or Mid-Management Certification by the State Board for Educator Certification

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate by the State Board for Educator Certification, preferred

Valid Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) Certification by the Texas Education Agency

Valid Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) or Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) training Certification by the Texas Education Agency

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.

PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:

Assist the school principal in overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Management

1. Participates in development and evaluation of educational programs.

2. Encourages and supports development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.

3. Promotes the use of technology in teaching/learning process.

School/Organizational Climate

4. Promotes a positive, caring climate for learning.

5. Deals sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.

6. Communicates effectively with students and staff.

7. Attends extra-curricular activities as directed by the Principal (e.g. sports activities, student centered activities, school concerts and programs, district programs, etc.) to support students and staff in all school functions and ensuring continued rapport with students, staff and parents.

School/Organizational Improvement

8. Participates in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents andmunity members.

9. Helps principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.

Personnel Management

10. Observes employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.

11. Serves as second appraiser for designated teacher appraisal system.

12. Assists principal in intering, selecting and orienting new staff.

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management

13. Supervises operations in principal's absence.

14. Helps plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments and extracurricular activity schedules.

15. Supervises reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigations.

16. Works with department heads and faculty topile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.

17. Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment; checks inventory; maintains records; and verifies receipts for materials.

18. Assists with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.

19. Coordinates transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services.

20. Complies with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule and Board policy.

Student Management

21. Ensures that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.

22. Helps to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.

23. Ensures that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.

24. Conducts conferences on student and school issues with parents, students and teachers.

Professional Growth and Development

25. Participates in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.

School/Community Relations

26. Articulates the school's mission tomunity and solicits its support in realizing mission.

27. Demonstrates awareness of schoolmunity needs and initiates activities to meet those needs.

28. Uses appropriate and effective techniques to encouragemunity and parent involvement.

29. Maintains confidentiality of information.

30. Reports to work on time every day.

31. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Thorough understanding of school operations

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Strong organizational,munication, public relations and interpersonal skills

Ability tomunicate effectively with students and staff

Ability to coordinate campus support operations

Valid Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirement of the District

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
