Title: Curriculum Specialist
Qualifications:
Holds a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College
Meets all licensure requirements including teaching or specialist area endorsement in the state of Illinois
Demonstrates current pedagogical practices in the classroom through participation in a professional learning community
Demonstrates ability to utilize a variety of data sources and problem-solving structures in order to ensure the academic and social-emotional success of all students. Makes data-driven decisions using formative and summative assessments
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Purpose: Build and sustain curriculum pacing and consistency district-wide, and support best instructional practices
Special Knowledge:
General knowledge of all elementary/middle school curriculum areas
Specific knowledge of technology integration, best practices in teaching, differentiated instruction, lesson design, and assessment
General knowledge of serving diverse populations of learners
Performance Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
Provides instructional leadership across all content areas (ex: ELA/SLA, Social Science, Math, Specials, and Exploratory classes).
Researches and evaluates curriculum and online/digital platforms.
Monitoring articulation, development, and implementation of curriculum.
Develops research-based instructional documents with teacher leaders.
Assists with supervision of articulation, development, and implementation of curriculum.
Assists with creation and implementation of common assessments & formative data evaluation.
Uses data to make instructional and curriculum decisions.
Collaborates with the Teaching and Learning Department to design and provide professional development focused on improving alignment and delivery of the written, taught and assessed curriculum to increase student success and close performance gaps.
Provides ongoing professional development activities for the staff that align with district and school improvement goals.
Onboarding new staff and/or group learning opportunities as needed. Model lessons, when appropriate.
Participates in district level committee meetings, as appropriate.
Participates in summer professional development sessions and meetings, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
Terms of Employment: 182 day contract per collective bargaining agreement with the Addison Teacher's Union. Up to 10 additional days paid at per diem rate as approved by supervisor. Starting pay for licensed staff is $53,990.
Evaluation: The Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning will serve as the evaluators with the Evaluation incorporating the guidelines established in the District Professional Appraisal System.
