Job Description
Job Title: Secondary School Administrator
Reports To: Principal and/or Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-Time, 12-Month
Job Summary:
Assists in the leadership, supervision, and daily operation of a middle and/or high school program. The administrator supports instructional improvement, student achievement, school safety, student discipline, staff supervision, and overall school operations while promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the daily administration and operation of the secondary school program.
Support the implementation of instructional programs and initiatives that promote student achievement and continuous school improvement.
Assist with supervision and evaluation of instructional and support staff in accordance with division procedures.
Support student discipline processes and implement student behavior expectations in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and school division policies.
Assist with school safety, crisis response procedures, attendance initiatives, and student supervision activities.
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, families, and support staff to address student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Participate in student support meetings, including Section 504, manifestation, attendance, and special education meetings, etc. as assigned.
Assist with administration of state assessments, school scheduling, transportation coordination, extracurricular activities, and other operational responsibilities.
Support the development and maintenance of a positive school culture and climate that promotes student engagement and success.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required by the school division and state regulations.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders.
Participate in professional development activities and maintain knowledge of current educational leadership practices and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the school and division.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Holds or is eligible for a valid Virginia license with endorsement in Administration and Supervision
Minimum of five years successful experience in education preferred
Knowledge of instructional leadership, school operations, student discipline, and educational best practices
Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations
Preferred:
Prior experience in school administration or educational leadership roles
Experience with secondary education programs, instructional supervision, and student support processes
Knowledge of Virginia public school policies, accreditation standards, and accountability expectations
