Schedule: Set by the District Nurse Supervisor Positions Supervised: None Position Overview: The School Nurse is responsible for assessing student health issues, developing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and providing nursing care to students who are ill, injured, or disabled. Responsibilities may include advising on health maintenance and disease prevention, as well as case management. Key Responsibilities: Maintain precise and comprehensive records and reports. Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions and symptoms. Adjust treatment plans based on patient responses and conditions. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Manage patient care aspects including diet and physical activity. Supervise and direct less experienced nursing or healthcare staff. Provide healthcare, first aid, immunizations, and assist in recovery and rehabilitation. Manage and coordinate infection control programs and advise on necessary precautions. Refer students to specialized health resources or community agencies. Develop and implement community health improvement programs. Conduct mandated health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, BMI). Administer flu shots and other health department initiatives. Coordinate district-wide athletic physicals. Ensure regular attendance; report absences to appropriate supervisors. Qualifications: Attitude: Positive, team-oriented mindset.
